Axis Hunting at Buck Valley Ranch
At Buck Valley Ranch, we offer year-round Trophy Axis hunts. Thanks to their unique antler cycle, we have both velvet and hard-antlered bucks available in every season. Axis with antlers over 28 inches are common, while trophies exceeding 34 inches are best hunted from spring to early fall.
Axis deer have a striking reddish-brown coat with lifelong white spots, a black stripe down their back, and white markings on their throat, belly, and tail. Bucks can weigh up to 250 pounds, while does typically range from 100 to 120 pounds. Their impressive antlers often reach 28-32 inches, with some exceeding 40 inches.
Originally from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and surrounding regions, Axis were first introduced to Texas in 1932, where they have thrived in the Hill Country.

Hunting Packages
For $750, you’ll enjoy a three-day, two-night stay with a knowledgeable guide to assist you throughout your hunt. This fee ensures you have everything you need for a successful and enjoyable experience, with expert guidance and quality accommodations. The cost of the animal harvested is additional and varies based on species and animal size.
If you'd like to extend your stay, additional days with lodging can be added for $375 per day. Larger bucks often require additional hunting days for the best chance of success. We’re happy to take a call and discuss the best plan for your hunt.
